Heaptalk, Jakarta — One of the natural attractions that is worth visiting in West Kutai Regency is Lake Barong which is located in Melak Ilir Village, Melak District. As the second largest lake in West Kutai after Jempang, Barong is located very close to the city center with a distance of only about 18 km.

Lake Barong can be reached by public transportation, travel agencies, or private vehicles. Visitors with private vehicles can take advantage of the directional signs along the road that guide their journey to the lake. By paying an entrance ticket of Rp15,000 per person for both local and foreign tourists, visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of Lake Barong.

Arriving at Lake Barong, visitors are treated to a natural panorama that is pleasing to the eye, one of which is the clarity of the lake water. The clarity of the water exposed to sunlight during the day is also a special attraction. Green hills with wide expanses of grass can be used as a place to relax. In another corner, the wooden bridge is an interesting spot for taking photos.

This lake is crowded with visitors during holidays. They come to simply enjoy the beauty of nature, breathe fresh air, gather with friends and relatives, or try various exciting activities. Visitors can rent a boat to enjoy the lake views. Boat renters will be given life jackets as a safety device. This activity is certainly interesting for visitors since not all natural attractions offer traditional boat rentals.

The local government has built several public facilities, such as benches, toilets, and parking lots. Although there are benches, visitors can have a picnic by spreading out mats on the grass area. The toilets provided are always kept clean even though there are not many. Regarding parking space, the management has provided a fairly large area at an affordable cost. (Translated by Sinta)
