Heaptalk, Jakarta – Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Setyo Budiyanto, has been appointed as a member of the Oversight and Accountability Committee of the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara).

The appointment of Setyo has sparked public debate, urges KPK to clarify its stance. Through its spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika, in a statement to the press on Tuesday (04/08), KPK assured that there will be no institutional conflict of interest resulting from the appointment.

“The KPK firmly states that there will be no conflict of interest in its involvement with Danantara. The Commission’s role in the Oversight and Accountability Committee of Danantara is to ensure that every decision taken remains objective and does not affect the KPK’s duties,” said spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika.

Tessa explained that the KPK Chairman’s position in the committee represents the institution, not the individual. She added that if there is any legal violations within Danantara, the KPK would carry out law enforcement duties in a professional manner.

“The appointment of the KPK to the Oversight and Accountability Committee of BPI Danantara is directed at the institution, not at a personal level—in this case, Chairman Setyo Budiyanto,” she stated.

“In the event of any legal issues involving Danantara, the KPK will act professionally and objectively, upholding principles of transparency and accountability without interference from any party, including members of the committee,” she added.

Tessa emphasized that all recommendations made regarding Danantara’s governance are organizational decisions. She reiterated the KPK’s commitment to providing professional oversight.
