Heaptalk, Jakarta — To ensure the security of the digital space, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) has temporarily suspended the electronic system registration of Worldcoin and World ID services.

Alexander Sabar, Director General of Digital Space Oversight at Komdigi, explained that this action was taken following public reports of suspicious activities related to Worldcoin and World ID services. “This suspension is a preventive measure to mitigate potential risks to the public. We will also summon PT Terang Bulan Abadi for an official clarification soon,” Alexander Sabar stated on Sunday (05/04).

Preliminary investigations revealed that PT Terang Bulan Abadi is not registered as an electronic system operator and lacks the mandatory electronic system registration required by law. Meanwhile, Worldcoin’s services were found to be operating under the electronic system registration of another legal entity, PT Sandina Abadi Nusantara. “Worldcoin’s services are registered under another legal entity’s electronic system operator license, namely PT Sandina Abadi Nusantara,” Alexander disclosed.

Under Government Regulation No. 71 of 2019 on Electronic Systems and Transactions and the Minister of Communication and Informatics Regulation No. 10 of 2021 on Private-Scope Electronic System Operators, all digital service providers must be legally registered and accountable for their operations to the public. “Non-compliance with registration requirements and using another legal entity’s identity to operate digital services constitutes a serious violation,” Alexander emphasized.

He added that Komdigi is committed to fairly and firmly overseeing the digital ecosystem to safeguard the nation’s digital space. In this effort, active public participation is crucial. “We urge the public to help maintain a secure and trustworthy digital space for all citizens. Komdigi also advises the public to remain vigilant against unauthorized digital services and to report suspected violations through official public complaint channels promptly,” he concluded.
