Heaptalk, Jakarta — Homecoming ahead of Ied al Fitr becomes a peak moment of people to communicate. To ensure smooth communication during the homecoming season, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) announced to remain standby.

“Our core responsibility lies in infrastructure, so this is critical. While some staff are on leave, others will continue to monitor frequencies and ensure communication channels run smoothly,” said Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid in Jakarta on Saturday (03/22).

Komdigi has been intensively coordinating with mobile operators to prepare various mitigation efforts in anticipation of the surge in mobile network traffic. She stated, “Our team has held several meetings with mobile operators to ensure that, God willing, communication services will not be disrupted.”

In addition to ensuring network stability, the Ministry of Komdigi has also requested mobile operators to provide additional support to the public during the homecoming period by offering communication tariff discounts of up to 50% for prepaid and postpaid services. “We also appreciate the mobile operators for sharing the same spirit,” Meutya added.

The Ministry of Komdigi will deploy frequency monitoring vehicles to monitor frequency usage and address potential interference in mobile networks, especially in areas with high homecoming traffic, such as airports, seaports, and toll roads. These frequency monitoring vehicles will also safeguard frequencies used for safety purposes, such as aviation, maritime, and disaster communication, to ensure they remain interference-free. She explained, “We plan to deploy frequency monitoring vehicles alongside mobile operators, strengthening our synergy this year and working together to establish homecoming command posts.”

In advance, Meutya Hafid also encouraged the public to access Mudikpedia to obtain necessary information for their homecoming journey. She also reminded the public to remain vigilant against potential digital threats during the homecoming period, such as scams involving fake BTS (Base Transceiver Station), which have seen an increase ahead of Eid al-Fitr. “Be cautious when opening links, as we have observed a rise in digital scams or fraud cases approaching Eid,” she concluded.
