In his remarks, the President conveyed, “We need a more systematic cooperation to overcome corruption issues in our country, one of which is utilizing the technology,”
Furthermore, the seventh President, usually called Jokowi, underlined that regulations at the legal level need to be strengthened, specifically related to the Law on confiscating assets for criminal acts of corruption. On the other hand, maintaining the system to prevent corruption and various digital-based licensing matters are other aspects that must be improved.
As one of the critical aspects of preventing corruption matters, the President appreciated multiple digital platforms established to mitigate the corruption potential, such as e-catalog, online tax apps, One Single Submission (OSS), and the Republic of Indonesia Regional Government Information System (SIPD-RI).
“The government has created numerous digital applications, including e-catalog that has possessed about 7.5 million local goods, compared to the early establishment of only 50,000 local products in this platform. On the other hand, developing an online tax platform also becomes a proper solution to fence off corruption possibility,” Jokowi emphasized.
As a part of the government strategy to decrease this issue, the Ministry of PANRB also revealed other significant factors that should be considered to combat the corruption problems, one of which is improving the Electronic Based Government System (SPBE) adoption to transform better bureaucracy process to be more transparent and inaugurating the SPID-RI platform as the general application.
The Chairman of Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Nawawi Pomolango, said, “Synergy is necessary to move forward. The government has determined the SPBE platform. We still need to amplify the technology usage, one of which is reinforcing the implementation of SPBE as another way to diminish the corruption issue in the archipelago,”
