Heaptalk, Jakarta — President Joko Widodo appreciated completing the Swissotel Nusantara construction within nine months. He acknowledged that it was not an easy project, but everyone involved succeeded.
“It has been proven that a five-star hotel with 191 rooms can be completed in 9 months. It’s not an easy job, but Indonesia managed to accomplish it,” President Jokowi said in his remarks during the inauguration of Swissotel Nusantara and the groundbreaking ceremony for Nusantara Mall Duty-Free in Nusantara Capital (IKN).
The government focuses on creating vibrancy in Nusantara Capital by scaling up flight activities at Nusantara Airport. The President stated that an urban ecosystem would develop in IKN by generating activity. He said, “There will be residents, citizens, hospitals, schools, hotels, and malls. It’s not easy; it takes time. But it seems many investors are truly seizing the trust we have built.”
In addition to air routes, constructing a toll road leading to IKN, expected to be completed by mid-2025, will further boost activity in Nusantara. “Since it will connect Samarinda-Balikpapan and Balikpapan to the Nusantara Capital, the resulting activity will invigorate our capital. That’s the vision,” he added.
During the event, President Jokowi also broke ground for Nusantara Mall Duty-Free, which will contribute to the atmosphere in IKN. With the development of these supporting facilities, he is confident that the transfer of civil servants to Nusantara can soon be realized. He remarked, “Hospitals are complete, schools are complete, there are malls, and the road infrastructure is adequate. I believe there will be activity, and we want to encourage as many of our civil servants as possible to move to the Nusantara Capital.”
Furthermore, the President announced that the government offers open opportunities for investors to invest in IKN. He mentioned that the Nusantara Capital Authority has prepared approximately 400 plots of land that will soon be available to investors. “For instance, plots here are designated for trade, hotels, and offices. We will open more plots next week to welcome new investments,” Jokowi concluded.
