Heaptalk, Jakarta — Jakarta’s Provincial Government announced new policies regarding the payment of Property and Land Taxes (PBB). Under new regulations, the exemption for residential property taxes in Jakarta, below US$122,200, approximately Rp2 billion, prevailed for only one house.
Explaining the change, the head of the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) of Jakarta, Lusiana Herawati, stated, “This year, the policy for housing with a value of under Rp2 billion has been implemented differently compared to previous years. Last year, residents valued below Rp2 billion were exempt from tax. This change is a part of our ongoing efforts to ensure a fair and balanced tax system.”
This new policy is stipulated in Governor Regulation Number 16 of 2024 concerning the Provision of Relief, Reduction, and Exemption and the Facilitation of Payment for PBB-P2 for the year 2024.
The regulation immediately drew multiple reactions from the public. On Instagram, residents of DKI Jakarta have requested that the policy be reviewed, considering Indonesia’s economy unstable. Additionally, local society has pleaded with the provincial government to continue providing subsidies, expecting to assist them materially.
