“Besides the existing Internet infrastructure, adequate regulation and human resources in this field (AI) are required,”
Heaptalk, Jakarta – The Vice Minister of Communication and Information Technology Nezar Patria revealed that the Ministry plans to create a regulation concerning the use of AI. This regulation aims to democratize the use of AI and lead to the broader use of this technology.
“Democratization of AI adoption will provide access to the use, development, and control of AI which will create innovation and settlement of various AI contemporary issues through collaboration, in the near future. For this reason, besides the existing Internet infrastructure, adequate regulation and human resources in this field are required,” stated Nezar during the opening ceremony of Artificial Intelligence Innovation Summit 2023 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta (08/10).
In more detail, Nezar explained there are six contemporary issues related to the daily use of AI. These issues are including misinformation, privacy, toxicity, cyber threat, copyright, AI bias, and the understanding of humanity. Overcoming these issues, Vice Minister Nezar perceived that the policy to regulate the use of this latest technology is critical to creating a fair level of ‘playing’ field.
“This is maybe can be a problem in the future. I perceived that the anticipation, in the form of regulation, can gather all stakeholders to discuss these issues here. We will easily access AI which means, this approach will make AI more accessible, cheaper, and create a better experience for its users.
