Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s National Border Management Agency (BNPP) has established breakthroughs in the country’s border area. In collaboration with the National Archive of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI), BNPP built an Archives Gallery at the Skouw Cross-Border Post (PLBN) in Mosso Village, Muara Tami District, Jayapura.
“BNPP collaborates with ANRI to create the Border Archive Gallery in the Skouw Papua PLBN core zone building,” affirmed the Secretary of BNPP, Robert Simbolon. (11/16)
Furthermore, Robert affirmed that the Head of ANRI initiated the gallery development and obtained full support from the Head of BNPP, who also served as Indonesia’s Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian. He said this entity will launch this gallery on November 17th, 2023, in PLBN Skouw, Papua. Based on his statement, The archives maintained are related to the nation’s survival, whose integrity and security must be maintained.
“This border archive gallery is an effort to preserve the well-maintained archives owned by the Indonesian nation to be managed well. We look forward to this gallery becoming a means of information, education, entertainment, and building public awareness of the significance of the archive,” affirmed Roberts.
Aligned with ANRI’s deputy for archival conservation, Kandar, the development of the PBLN aims to maintain state sovereignty, reduce disparities, and equalize infrastructure development, specifically in border areas.
In cooperating to construct this gallery, Kandar revealed that the BNPP party had set up the location and supported infrastructure development for archival gallery management activities. Meanwhile, he claimed that the ANRI prepares archival materials to be stored in the gallery.
“This gallery enables PLBN to provide information and educate people in increasing their knowledge regarding the access to state borders,” Kandar affirmed.
Several archival materials will fill the gallery at PBLN Skouw, such as archival documents about the history of Indonesian independence, the history of the integration of Papua into Indonesia, Papuan figures, archives about the socio-culture of the society in Papua in the form of photos and audio-visual documentation.
