Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa, together with Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, held a limited meeting on Thursday (08/15) to discuss the preparations for the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnership (HLF-MSP) 2024 and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF).
The forum, scheduled to take place from September 1-3, 2024, is part of Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen its role in various international forums and to demonstrate its leadership in global solidarity, in line with Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045.
Minister Suharso emphasized the importance of preparing robust and realistic information for the public, especially regarding alternative financing solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This aims to attract global attention and foster solidarity through multi-stakeholder partnerships, particularly with Southern countries, including Africa.
“Indonesia is working to establish an alternative financing mechanism to facilitate development spending in Africa. We see great potential in Africa over the next decade, as the region is expected to dominate global population growth,” Suharso explained.
Furthermore, this commitment to alternative financing is expected to attract global attention and strengthen Indonesia’s bilateral relations with Southern countries, especially in Africa, in the fields of economics and development.
Minister Retno added the importance of clearly and accurately conveying Indonesia’s commitments and tangible contributions on the international stage to the public. This precise information ensures that the public understands and supports Indonesia’s active role globally.
The HLF-MSP 2024 is expected to be a moment for Indonesia to showcase its leadership on the international stage, particularly on global issues such as the SDGs and strategic cooperation with Southern countries. The forum will also serve as an essential platform for Indonesia to promote strategic initiatives in economic, social, and environmental fields following the national vision outlined in the 2025-2045 National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN).
