Heaptalk, Jakarta — Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi stated that the government has not yet found appropriate regulations for flying taxis or passenger-carrying drones.
“We are looking at regulations from developed countries, and even America has not yet given formal permission. There are risks involved. Therefore, we have not granted permission for flying taxis. They are allowed for exhibitions but not for public transportation,” Budi said in a press release on Wednesday (06/12),
The flying taxi planned to be showcased in IKN had arrived. It is scheduled to be tested this June. This flying taxi is an optionally piloted personal/passenger air vehicle (OPPAV) developed by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) and Hyundai Motors Company (HMC). The test vehicle, sent in several pallets, has already been stored at Semayang Port in Balikpapan. The batteries for the vehicle have also been delivered.
