Heaptalk, Jakarta – In order to promote digital transformation, East Kalimantan Province held Digital Leadership Training which involved the digital leaders around East Kalimantan, both at the level of city and regency. Following this agenda, the Head of the Department of Communication and Information Technology (Diskominfo) for East Kutai, Ery Mulyadi, supports the organizing of this activity to improve the capability of digital leaders.
“We truly appreciate the organizing of this activity as this is the first training that involves the leaders of Diskominfo. In addition, this activity is special as the training also is followed by certification for digital leadership,” stated Ery.

In his view, Ery conveyed that this agenda is the right moment to increase the capacity of digital leaders for their responsibility in driving digitalization. In terms of preparation, he stated that he came with the insight that he obtained from his experience in managing staff and his daily work related to communication and IT. He believes that the local government has worked optimally and now is the right moment to examine the leaders’ competence.
Regarding the challenges faced, Ery highlighted digital infrastructure topics delivered by the keynote speaker. Ery conveyed, “To drive digitalization, the development of digital infrastructure should be promoted, but to overcome this challenge, we need a tremendous amount of funds. This is the reason why we need support from the Central Government.”
He also added that hereafter, the Central Government is expected to deliver real support to local government to boost the infrastructure development, one of which is by creating special allocation funds or known as DAK.
“As we know that Ministry of Communication, Information Technology (Kominfo), probably, is the only ministry who has no DAK. We have delivered this matter in the discussion and, henceforth, we hope DAK can be created to drive the development of IT and Communication infrastructure in every region,” stated Ery.
