Heaptalk, Jakarta — PLN stated that its public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) served 345 electric vehicles during the 79th Independence Day celebrations at IKN on Monday (08/19).
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo mentioned that to serve all the EVs at IKN, PLN set up 18 public EV charging stations at multiple locations. He said, “As of August 17, 2024, all these public EV charging stations have served over 340 charging transactions with a total power of 6,568 kilowatt-hours (kWh).”
Furthermore, Darmawan also said, “In line with the forest city concept of IKN, which is 100% powered by an environmentally friendly energy ecosystem, PLN has built infrastructure to support electric vehicles. We ensure that this energy transition is embodied at the operational level, not only at a high strategic level. Hence, in the future, all vehicles in IKN will be powered by clean electric energy.”
On this occasion, PLN has installed 18 EV chargers at three locations in and around IKN, including Batakan Stadium, the State Secretariat Office of IKN, and a temporary hub substation. These EV chargers include eight ultra-fast EV charging stations, four fast EV charging stations, three EV medium charging stations, and three electric charging stations.
“The operation of these public EV charging stations is supported by the PLN Mobile application, allowing all services to be conducted digitally and quickly. All public EV charging station transactions are carried out digitally and in real-time through the Electric Vehicle menu on the SuperApp PLN Mobile, ensuring everything is well-coordinated and monitored,” he added.
This infrastructure has successfully supported the primary operational vehicles during the 79th Independence Day ceremony, including electric vehicles from the State Secretariat Office, electric buses, electric vehicles from the police, buggies, electric taxis, and electric motorcycles for the Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres). The electricity used to power Nusantara Capital is 100% sourced from renewable energy, as the IKN Solar Power Plant supplies the area with a capacity of 10 Megawatts (MW).
Darmawan stated, “The electricity is green, utilizing advanced technology in line with the concept of green, smart, and beautiful. We also provide a service that ensures electric vehicles can operate smoothly. This is truly a future-oriented electrical system.”
To maintain the reliability of the power supply during the 79th Independence Day celebrations at IKN, PLN had previously deployed 450 personnel on 24-hour standby at strategic points. Each personnel member was equipped with complete tools and supported by a Command Center that monitors the operation of all network utilities in real time. “With the preparations we’ve made, in terms of supply, personnel, and public EV charging stations, PLN successfully contributed to the success of the 79th Independence Day celebration at IKN,” concluded Darmawan.
