Heaptalk, Jakarta — Following President Prabowo Subianto’s budget efficiency measures, the House of Representatives (DPR) has confirmed that there will be no layoffs for government employees, especially contract employees in ministries and institutions.
“Contract termination, concerns, and unemployment due to efficiency measures, I think will not happen,” said Ahmad Sufmi Dasco, Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, to reporters on Monday (02/10).
Dasco acknowledged that the House of Representatives is awaiting the government’s budget reconstruction following President Prabowo Subianto’s instructions for budget efficiency. He said, ” The government’s budget reconstruction results will be reported to DPR RI.”
In line with Dasco, Hasan Nasbi, Head of the Presidential Communication Office, stated that employee expenses, such as the 13th month salary, holiday allowances for civil servants, and social assistance, are not included in the efficiency instructions. “The Minister of Finance has already made a statement regarding this, and the efficiency measures instructed by the President do not include employee expenses. Employee salaries are not part of the efficiency measures,” said Hasan.
Hasan also urged contract employees in ministries and institutions to remain calm regarding budget efficiency measures as there will be no layoffs. Hence, they can carry out their tasks smoothly to obtain the set objectives.
