Heaptalk, Jakarta — The National Border Management Agency (BNPP) plans to implement the 12th Integrated Border Development Movement (Gerbangdutas) program, with the province of West Kalimantan as one of the locations. The ceremony will be held in Pontianak, the administrative and economic center of West Kalimantan.
Deputy for Border Area Potential Management, BNPP, Inspector General of Police, Makhruzi Rahman explained that the purpose of this Integrated Border Development Movement is to solidify the Management of State Border Areas (PBWN-KP) through coordination between the central and local governments. This program also identifies the development needs of national border areas and supports healthcare services for border communities.
“The launching of Gerbangdutas demonstrates the government’s commitment to managing border areas, with the presence of ministries and agencies that are BNPP members along with local governments,” Makhruzi said in Jakarta on Monday (06/03).
Makhruzi also added that this edition of the Integrated Border Development Movement will differ from previous ones. The implementation of the 12th Gerbangdutas will include the symbolic inauguration of 5 Border Crossing Posts (PLBN) whose physical construction has been completed by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) as a BNPP member. “If everything goes according to plan, the events for the Gerbangdutas launch will take place in early June 2024,” Makhruzi revealed.
The five PLBNs are PLBN Jagoi Babang in Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan Province; PLBN Serasan in Natuna Regency, Riau Islands; PLBN Sei Nyamuk in Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan; PLBN Napan in North Central Timor, East Nusa Tenggara; and PLBN Yatetkeun in Boven Digoel Regency, South Papua.
Meanwhile, Farida Kurnianingrum, the Acting Deputy for Infrastructure Management of BNPP and Head of the Planning and Cooperation Bureau, BNPP, explained that the theme for the 12th Integrated Border Development Movement is Accelerating Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Transformation in the National Border Areas. This theme was chosen to support President Joko Widodo’s national development policy of 2024.
The budget allocation for development programs and various activities in national border areas reached Rp6.5 trillion in 2024. This is outlined in the Action Plan for the Management of State Borders and Border Areas (PBWN-KP) carried out by 31 ministries/agencies under BNPP coordination.
