Diskominfo Dumai aims to enlarge internet coverage to 128 points, including public facilities, by strengthening partnerships with various providers to enhance technology infrastructure.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Dumai City Communication and Information Service (Diskominfo) appreciates the implementation of the Digital Transformation Indonesia Conference and Expo (DTI-CX) 2023, held at the Grand Ballroom, JIExpo Convention Center and Theater, Jakarta, on July 26th – 27th, 2023.
Based on the Presidential Regulation (PERPRES) Number 95 of 2018 concerning Electronic-Based Government Systems (SPBE), Indonesia’s President Joko ‘Jokowi‘ Widodo instruct to overall Indonesia’s provinces and districts to accelerate digital transformation. Align with this mandate, Head of Diskominfo of Dumai City, Khairil Adli, revealed the DTI-CX agenda is the most appropriate agenda which enables regions to expand the insight and enhance synergy between the central and region government to expedite digitalization.
Khairil, in his further statement, admitted the Dumai City government is preparing multiple essential matters in terms of human resources and infrastructure development, which is hoped to realize the equitable digitalization ecosystem, one of which is the internet network provision. Regarding the infrastructure, he conveyed that the Dumai City government has collaborated with a parent company of Telkomsat, Telkom, related to bandwidth procurement to around 77 locations around the city.
“We are currently in infrastructure development. Realizing the limited budget, we look forward to the support from the provider that will accelerate the development of our infrastructure,” voiced Khairil.
From now on, he affirmed to target around 128 areas, including public facilities, by strengthening partnerships with various providers to enhance technology infrastructure. As it is known, Khairil claimed that several providers have offered to cooperate, spanning VSAT, ICON+, and Artha.
On the other hand, regarding the internet coverage, he observed several locations that still need to be adequately covered by the internet network, namely around 13 points, with a low signal and 2 points, with blank spots. To resolve the problem, the Dumai City Government has provided coordinate point data to the Ministry of Communication and Informatics to follow up on whether the government will build BTS or partner with providers for Dumai City.
“Currently, Dumai City still contains around thirteen points with low network speed levels, and two areas still have blank spots. We have submitted the coordinate point data, which is still being discussed with the Ministry. For this reason, we expect the central government can grant the current matters that we report.” Khairil Adli said in his statement.
