Heaptalk, Jakarta — Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) provides a dedicated website channel to report cases of online fraud via telephone and short message service (SMS) through AduanNomor.id.
“Kominfo has opened the AduanNomor.id website channel for the public to submit complaints about mobile numbers used for fraud, online gambling offers, or spam advertisements,” said Director General of Posts and Informatics Wayan Toni Supriyanto during a press conference in the Kominfo press room, Central Jakarta (11/15).
Wayan asked the public to actively participate in reporting about mobile numbers being used for fraud. Thus, the mobile number used by the fraudster will be immediately blocked. He voiced, “Blocking is based on complaints. Requests can be made by attaching screenshots of SMS or recorded conversations that indicate fraud.”
Further, the report will be verified by officers and then blocked by the operator if the case is proven to be fraudulent. Handling complaints of blocked cellular numbers takes 1 x 24 hours. “Every month, operators will report the blocking of the mobile number to the Ministry of Communication and Informatics,” Wayan added.
A total of 958 cases of online fraud were reported via AduanNomor.id
From August to mid-November 2023, the Ministry has received reports of 958 cases of telephone and SMS misuse for online fraud. The report was received via the Aduan Nomor channel and efforts have been made to block all reported cellular numbers.
In addition, Wayan encouraged all parties to play an active role in fighting online fraud. Wayan conveyed, “Anyone who finds indications of online fraud can report the number suspected of committing fraud through the mechanism mentioned previously.”
The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has also provided a service for reporting fraudulent content on websites, digital platforms, or social media through the Aduan Konten website channel. Apart from that, the Ministry is also preparing a mechanism for checking and reporting bank accounts that are indicated to be fraudulent via the Cek Rekening website channel. (Translated by Sinta)
