Heaptalk, Jakarta – On the groundbreaking ceremony for subsidized housing specifically for police officers in Karawang, West Java, on Tuesday (March 4, 2025), Minister of Housing and Settlements Maruarar Sirait expressed his commitment to accelerating the development of subsidized housing, especially for members of the police force.

As part of the implementation of the 3 Million Houses program, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PKP) is projecting the construction of 14,419 livable homes across 34 regional police jurisdictions.

“We want to ensure that civil servants in the police force have access to comfortable, safe, and affordable housing. Through this program, we hope to assist them in owning their homes and improving the quality of life for themselves and their families,” said Minister Maruarar who also known as Ara.

During his visit, Minister Maruarar Sirait emphasized that providing housing for police officers is a tangible step towards enhancing the welfare of public servants who have dedicated themselves to public service.

The program has been positively received by police members, with 2,549 applicants already registered for the initiative.

“Thank you to the police for contributing 0.5 percent towards the target of 3 million houses. This is an extraordinary synergy to help the community have homes,” Minister Ara commented.

Additionally, the Minister highlighted that West Java is the province with the highest number of subsidized housing developments in Indonesia. Consequently, the property sector is expected to boost the economy in West Java as well as nationally.

Minister Ara also praised the expedited permitting processes in the housing sector, including the Building Approval Permit (PBG) processes which can now be completed quickly in several areas like Pontianak and Kubu Raya in West Kalimantan, which only takes 10 minutes.

“Public services in Indonesia are very progressive. I believe this is a new phenomenon in public service,” said Minister Ara.

Chief of Indonesian National Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo announced that the police continues to revitalize this program, allowing 10,000 civil servants within the police department to obtain subsidized housing throughout Indonesia. This step is a form of support for the subsidized housing initiative and to ensure equity. Indonesian Police Department, today, are also coordinating maps of subsidized housing areas to promote property sector growth in various regions.

“We collectively support the President’s program. On one hand, housing represents hope for police personnel. We welcome this program; it is our first implementation. Our hope is to exceed our target of 100,000 units, truly benefiting members of the police force,” he stated.
