Heaptalk, Jakarta — International Business Machines (IBM) has acquired an ERP and cloud consultation company based in Indonesia, PT Equine Global, by taking a 100% share ownership of this company.

This transaction with an undisclosed amount is subject to customary closing conditions and is targeted to be completed in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2023. Following the accomplishment of this transaction, Equine company will join IBM in enhancing IBM Consulting’s business transformation services in Indonesia.

With this strategic agreement, Equine Global, which has three subsidiaries, including PT Optima Data International, PT Niagaprima Paramitra, and PT Xsis Mitra Utama, will be entirely controlled by IBM Consulting. On the other hand, IBM’s strategic acquisition aims to augment its resources and ability to back Indonesian client in modernizing their core business and enhancing their hybrid cloud transformation and AI technology.

“Today’s announcement will add to IBM’s ability to meet clients’ increasing needs in the archipelago for digital services. Equine Global’s closeness to clients, local assets, and hybrid cloud experience will support IBM in helping clients to innovate quickly, driving business transformation in Indonesia.” The Managing Partner

The company realized that Indonesia is a rapidly growing market, particularly in the digital sector. Moreover, the government has also designed a roadmap to achieve comprehensive digital transformation. According to the Statista Report, Indonesia’s information technology is estimated to reach US$9 billion by 2028.

Also, the IDC report revealed the most significant sectors. IDC also predicts essential sectors targeted for investment in the IT sector, such as infrastructure modernization, application optimization, and employee productivity.

To encourage growth in reliable digital infrastructure, companies see that adopting digital technology in automation and analytics can strengthen productivity and efficiency. For this reason, this strategic acquisition will bolster IBM company to implement technology services innovatively in this market.

“This acquisition is an important moment for us to support customers in providing services that answer existing needs in the industry. Together with IBM, we will provide broader hybrid cloud solutions, build Next-Gen Data solutions, and help clients apply enterprise-scale AI,” The CEO of Equine Global, Eko Heryato, affirmed.

As information, This strategic agreement marks IBM’s ninth acquisition in 2023. Since Arvind Khrisna became CEO in April 2020, this technology has acquired over 30 companies.

Founded in 2009, Equine Global comprises four operating companies specializing in ERP implementations, application development, data management, and analytics. Its highly skilled professionals work with leading Indonesian brands to successfully adopt new and complex technologies, providing strategy, implementation and managed services that will help accelerate their business transformation.

The company also has a diverse ecosystem of partners to address its clients varied digital needs, with dedicated practices supporting long-term alliances with partners such as SAP, Oracle, AWS, Salesforce, Tableau, Informatica, Automation Anywhere, Fortinet, Trendmicro, Dell, and IBM.
