Heaptalk, Jakarta — International Business Machines (IBM) has acquired an ERP and cloud consultation company based in Indonesia, PT Equine Global, by taking a 100% share ownership of this company.
This transaction with an undisclosed amount is subject to customary closing conditions and is targeted to be completed in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2023. Following the accomplishment of this transaction, Equine company will join IBM in enhancing IBM Consulting’s business transformation services in Indonesia.
With this strategic agreement, Equine Global, which has three subsidiaries, including PT Optima Data International, PT Niagaprima Paramitra, and PT Xsis Mitra Utama, will be entirely controlled by IBM Consulting. On the other hand, IBM’s strategic acquisition aims to augment its resources and ability to back Indonesian client in modernizing their core business and enhancing their hybrid cloud transformation and AI technology.

The company realized that Indonesia is a rapidly growing market, particularly in the digital sector. Moreover, the government has also designed a roadmap to achieve comprehensive digital transformation. According to the Statista Report, Indonesia’s information technology is estimated to reach US$9 billion by 2028.
Also, the IDC report revealed the most significant sectors. IDC also predicts essential sectors targeted for investment in the IT sector, such as infrastructure modernization, application optimization, and employee productivity.

As information, This strategic agreement marks IBM’s ninth acquisition in 2023. Since Arvind Khrisna became CEO in April 2020, this technology has acquired over 30 companies.
