Heaptalk, Jakarta — An India-based live-streaming startup, Roposo, has inaugurated its expansion in the Indonesian market (10/31). Previously, the team has conducted a soft launch in this market as of February 2023.
The company observed that the live-streaming market in Indonesia remains the most promising sector for MSME players, particularly in terms of social commerce. Based on Statista, internet users worldwide spent about 480 billion hours accessing live content on popular platforms in 2020. This industry is estimated to elevate and generate a value of US$330.51 billion by 2030, as cited in the Grand View Research through DailySocial.
For this reason, the Senior Vice President and GM of Roposo, Mansi Jain, affirmed that the platform launch in the archipelago aims to transform digital content by providing quality content production devoted to local users, creators, brands, and advertisers with its robust differentiation. From the content creator side, Roposo allows those with talent to monetize from day one of use, which is assessed based on user engagement related to content views and the number of followers they have.
“consumers want live experiences that allow them to stay connected to what’s trending and be part of the broader conversation around them. For this reason, our technology and features will bridge this matter,” Mansi Jain said.
In providing quality content for users, around three critical pillars are implemented, including providing the latest trends, allowing users to create a community, and granting an interactive experience.
Before being inaugurated in the Indonesian market, TikTok’s competitor has been tested for over five months by providing more than 40 streams daily through the Live feature in Glance’s lock screen platform. As a result, the company claimed that the platform has attracted a daily audience of 1 – 2 million people, and nearly two hours of Roposo content has been watched monthly. Hitherto, Roposo has contained more than 200 creators. The company aims to obtain 1,000 new creators in the next 3 – 4 quarters with this business expansion effort.
Roposo claimed that the platform possessed about 80 million users in India. Following this expansion in the archipelago, this digital content app plans to broaden its presence in other countries, covering the United States, Brazil, and Japan. Meanwhile, regarding its active users, the company claimed that the platform has 15 million active users and is targeted to attract 20 million active users in the next 2 – 3 months.
