Heaptalk, Jakarta – Indonesia encounters multiple challenges to bridge the financial inclusion and financial literacy disparities. Supporting the government in addressing this concern, Astra Group’s e-wallet, AstraPay, announced has conducted several actions to increase digital financial literacy in the archipelago, one of which is by amplifying the implementation of QRIS.
According to Diana Yumanita, the Head of MSME Development and Consumer Protection of Bank Indonesia, the country’s digital literacy index in 2022, released by Kominfo, only attained 3.54 out of 5. OJK Survey in 2022 also showed a 35% gap between digital literacy and financial inclusion. Meanwhile, the national digitalization potential is tremendous as the population of productive age, 70.72% of 270.2 million people, possess at least two debit cards or credit cards and three digital payments instruments.
To overcome this issue, Diana stated that the collaboration between government institutions, private sectors, and society is critical. She also revealed that one of the effective solutions is increasing the implementation of QRIS.
“QRIS is considered as an effective solution to address the financial inclusion and financial literacy gap considering its use that can be implemented directly,” stated Diana.
As digital financial service provider, CEO of AstraPay Rina Apriana stated that the company is committed to supporting the national financial inclusion and financial literacy.
In its initial stage, Rina explained that Astra has promoted the use of AstraPay in over 300 Astra’s branches across Indonesia. As the time goes on, AstraPay diversified its features and boosted the cooperation with multiple brands and MSMEs.
AstraPay claimed it has cooperated with over 100 partners and 24,000 MSMEs, where 7,000 partners are incorporated in Astra’s ecosystem.
“So, our first step is to enhance the use of AstraPay in Astra’s branches. For example, in FIF Group. Further, we target the MSMEs around FIF branches to utilize AstraPay to contribute to the enhancement of digital literacy and financial inclusion,” stated Rina.
In escalating the participation of MSMEs around Astra’s branches, Astra Group presented enticing offers.
“Those who utilize AstraPay’s QRIS will easily record their income every day and every month. This data can be used to obtain access to Astra Group financing and Astra Group ecosystem,” stated Rina.
She added, “AstraPay also supported MSMEs in enhancing their brand awareness by spreading their promo to Astra’s customers.”
Moreover, to elevate digital literacy AstraPay also organized a talk show named Dialog Inspiratif AstraPay with theme “The Development of QRIS-Based Digital Financial Literacy: An Innovative Approach in Indonesia” in Jakarta (06/13). In this agenda, AstraPay invited keynote speakers from government institution and Astra ecosystem, to deliver insight towards the use of QRIS to drive the business growth.
