Heaptalk, Jakarta — Taiwan’s technology company, Gogoro Inc, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India-based oil company Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) to rollout battery exchange stations in more than 21,000 retail outlets in India.
According to the Founder and CEO of Gogoro, Horace Luke, India is in the early stages of a massive electric transformation of its urban two-wheel transportation system. He perceived that battery swapping is a critical component to broad adoption, marking the establishment of the swapping infrastructure an essential.
“Today, we are announcing a strategic partnership with HPCL to launch thousands of Gogoro battery swapping stations across its retail outlets throughout the country in the coming years. There is nowhere on earth that needs smart electric transportation more than India. Gogoro is joining together with the Indian business community and national and local government to deploy a scalable and accessible battery swapping and electric vehicle ecosystem,” Luke added in his statement.
With more battery-shifting locations than gas stations, Gogoro Network carries out a new generation of swappable battery refueling safely and continually optimizing its ability to be dynamic and versatile for riders, businesses, and communities in diverse countries.
Founded in 2011, Gogoro leverages innovation to transform the way urban energy is distributed and consumed. Hitherto, Gogoro Network has backed nearly 600,000 riders and possessed more than 1.3 million smart batteries in circulation through its network of 12,000 battery swapping stations at over 2,500 locations.
With more than 400,000 daily battery swaps and nearly 500 million total battery swaps, Gogoro Network battery swapping has saved more than 750,000 tons of CO2 since its establishment.
