Organizing the 14th Indo Beauty Expo, Krista Exhibitions is supported by several well-known associations, including Indonesian Association of Indonesian Cosmetics Companies and Cosmetics Associations (PPAK), Indonesian Retail Merchants Association (Aprindo), and Indonesian Health Supplements Companies Association (APSKI).
The Chairman of PPAK Solihin Sofiyan conveyed his appreciation to Krista Exhibitions who continue to organize this expo, even during the covid-19 pandemic in 2021.
Regarding the industry performance, he conveyed that the industry demonstrated remarkable growth, particularly during the pandemic.
“As cited from BPOM data, the number of cosmetics businesses demonstrated strong growth, jumping by 20.6% from 819 companies (2021) to 913 companies (2022). This trend also continues in 2023 by growing 21.9% to 1,010 companies. The industry growth is recorded to hit Rp2.1 trillion,” stated Solihin.
According to Solihin, the 2nd World largest Muslim country, has great potency in beauty industry, particularly in halal beauty. Through this event, Solihin hoped that the country can build a strong, resilient local beauty ecosystem.
“As we know that, the most of raw materials for this industry are imported from other countries. However, due to geopolitical conditions, the price of raw materials spikes exponentially. Through this expo, we can build the national industry by reaching more raw material suppliers and strengthening the upstream sector. Thus, we are not only building a factory but also building an ecosystem in this industry,” voiced Solihin.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of APSKI, Decky Yao, strengthen the Solihin’s statement concerning the industry performance. In more detail, Decky explained that this trend also impacts health supplement industry as the demand for collagen, anti-aging, digestion, and skin care products is massive.
He expected Indo Beauty Expo to be a platform that connects entrepreneurs with local raw material producers to eliminate local dependence on the exported materials.
In the event, Executive Director of Aprindo Setyadi Surya confirmed to bring buyers from China to open export and import opportunities. He added, “The buyers from China aim to discover the development of beauty industry in Indonesia. They also hoped to open business opportunities between Indonesia and China”.
