Heaptalk, Jakarta – Since Gotong Royong Vaccination program rollout in Indonesia, PT HM Sampoerna, Tbk becomes one of the first industrial private companies that obtain the allocation. The Company’s participation in this private vaccination manifests Sampoerna’s commitment – labor-intensive industry – in placing the employees’ health and safety in the first place.
Sampoerna has participated in launching the Gotong Royong vaccination program, a program initiated by the Indonesia authority and Indonesian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). The event was officially opened by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, and attended by West Jakarta Governor Ridwan Kamil, and the Head of KADIN Indonesia, Rosan Roeslani. The event took place in Cikarang and Karawang, industrial areas, was followed by 18 industrial actors and successfully injected covid-19 vaccine to 40,000 people.
“We expected that vaccination could rejuvenate our economy. As we know, in the first quarter of 2021, our economic growth remained in the number of 0.74%. Further, we hope in the second quarter our target, approximately 7%, will be achieved due to the production process in every line sectors can work normally,” stated Jokowi in the event (18/05).
By building cooperation with Bio Farma, a company that provides vaccines, and Kimia Farma, a health services firm, Sampoerna has received the first batch of private vaccine allocation and delivered it directly to 1,000 employees at its production facility in Karawang, West Java. KADIN and the Government intentionally selected the location consider it is the red zone and industrial area. The vaccine distribution was conducted gradually where at the first batch, 500 employees was injected on 18 May and the remain employees will be shot on 23 – 24 May 2021.
The President Director of Sampoerna, Mindaugas Trumpaitis, appreciated the Government and KADIN that strives to provide Gotong Royong program to the private sector. “Sampoerna participation in Gotong Royong Private Vaccination Program reflected its commitment that place employees’ health and safety as our main priority,” said Mindaugas.
Mindaugas also uttered that the Corporate has put a serious effort to acquire vaccination allocation since the program was firstly announced. According to him, the vaccination program is critical to Sampoerna as a labor-intensive company to protect its employees and support the Government in accelerating herd immunity formation.
Through KADIN, Sampoerna has registered 65,000 Sampoerna and Mitra Produksi Sigaret employees across several cities/districts in Java to the program where all of the vaccines cost covered by the Company.
In addition, Sampoerna also always maintained its quality performance by applying strict health protocol over its operational areas and production facilities in line with the rule and guide of Covid-19 Prevention Protocol stipulated by the Government and Covid-19 Force Task.
“All of these actions are part of our involvement to assist the Government in preventing and terminating transmission rate of Covid-19 in Indonesia to accelerate national economy recovery thoroughly,” added Mindaugas.
