Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) 2024 is officially open for four days from February 29 to March 3 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.
This year’s exhibition adopts the theme REAL: Reflection on Culture, Experiencing the Comfort, Adapting to Sustainability, and Leading the Innovation. Through the theme, the Indonesian Furniture and Crafts Industry Association (HIMKI) and Dyandra Promosindo as organizers would like to invite industry players to create innovative products with designs that are steeped in Indonesian cultural values and natural beauty while still prioritizing comfort.
In her opening remarks, Director General of Small, Medium, and Miscellaneous Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry Reni Yanita said that the Indonesian furniture industry possesses many advantages. “The strength of the furniture industry in Indonesia is supported by factors such as abundant raw material potential, policy support in terms of exports of wood and rattan raw materials, increasingly diverse technology and wood varieties, an increasingly improving raw material supply chain system and the availability of adequate labor,” Reni said at IFEX 2024 opening ceremony at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta (02/29).
According to Reni, industry players must work together to accomplish the export target of furniture products. In 2023, the furniture industry contributed 1.3% to the non-oil and gas GDP with an export performance value of US$ 1.8 billion. She expects that IFEX will continue to be the world’s leading B2B furniture exhibition which is a reference for global furniture industry players. In addition, she also invited industry players to display quality, stylish, sustainable, and environmentally friendly products that suit buyers’ needs.
Presenting a new concept: Market Lane
Unlike previous years, IFEX 2024 delivers a new concept by presenting Market Lane in the Gambir Expo area. Market Lane displays unique, high-quality products that have undergone a curation process. In total, this event features 500 exhibitors occupying an exhibition area of 65,000 m².
Chairman of the HIMKI Presidium, Abdul Sobur, stated that this year’s exhibition is targeted to attract total transactions of US$300 million and 13,000 visitors from more than 100 countries. IFEX is also expected to make a significant contribution to Indonesia’s economic growth from the furniture and craft industry sectors. “Every year IFEX makes a significant contribution to industrial growth and economic growth in general. We are confident that this year IFEX can make a positive contribution to our economic growth,” Sobur voiced.

He further said that apart from traditional export destination markets such as America and Europe, the association also continues to develop export destinations to emerging markets such as India, the Middle East, and Africa. According to him, IFEX is a proper platform to introduce and encourage exports of Indonesian furniture and craft products to those markets.
Meanwhile, President Director of Dyandra Promosindo Daswar Marpaung conveyed, “With a wider exhibition area, we hope to provide more opportunities for craftsmen to participate in IFEX, as well as provide wider opportunities for buyers to explore a variety of Indonesian furniture and crafts.”
Apart from the exhibition, IFEX 2024 also presents several flagship programs, including the VIP Buyers program, IFEX Buyers & Exhibitors Nite, seminars, and awards for the best booth. There are also supporting services and facilities available such as free shuttle buses, business lounges, medical rooms, wheelchair services, and translator services.
