“We know that the Indonesian creative economy enthusiasm is influenced by fashion development which contributed to the national GDP of 18.01% or Rp 116 trillion,” said Fitri, the representative of LTKL.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — Proud of made-in-Indonesian products is the tagline of Lingkar Temu Kabupaten Lestari (LTKL), the environmental conservation association whose members are district governments. Derived from its tagline, the association carried out multiple actions by collaborating with various parties to increase the brand awareness of the local products, one of which is by organizing Kelas Berkain (translate: cloth class) during Inacraft on October, on Friday (10/06).
The representative of LTKL, Fitri, explained that through this event, the association will introduce local eco-fashion products to attract more consumers and obtaining support from more parties.
“We know that the Indonesian creative economy enthusiasm is influenced by fashion development which contributed to the national GDP of 18.01% or Rp 116 trillion. We hold this program to introduce eco fashion to the visitors,” said Fitri.
Moreover, she added that this activity also can invite people to be proud of the national product, particularly wearing eco-friendly products which will bring economic benefit to other regions.
“So far, traditional clothes, such as stamped or hand-written batik and jumputan (Indonesian batik that is made using the tie-dyeing method) or woven clothes are only worn in the formal event and are attached to certain ages or circles. Through this activity, we hope the young generation can wear the product for their daily activities, such as for hanging out in a café, watching concerts, etc,” said Fitri.
In Kelas Berkain, the speaker who is also a fashion expert, Raeni Kusumawardani, introduced the innovation carried out by the Indonesian craftsmen. “The first is Gambo Muba, a type of textile made through jumputan method, dyed with uncaria sap which was initially considered as waste and thrown away for nothing. Now, this waste can be the main dye for fabric. As an eco-fashion product, Gambo Muba uses 100% of anti-chemical dyes.”
Introducing the national innovation to attain sustainability goals, Raeni hopes sustainable economy from eco-fashion can obtain supports from multiple parties.
