Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Muslim Fashion Festival (Muffest+) 2024 was officially opened at Istora Senayan, Jakarta (08/08), marking a collaboration between the Indonesia Fashion Chamber (IFC), Bank Indonesia, and Gemalindo Kreasi Indonesia.
For the ninth time, the Muffest+ 2024 Road to IN2MF event features a series of trade exhibitions and fashion shows from over 175 brands. Adopting the theme ‘Flying to The Global Market,’ this festival offers a shopping experience with the spirit of traveling in style towards the global stage.
Istora Senayan Jakarta, this year’s Muffest+ venue, was designed with an airport ambiance, offering visitors a unique experience while shopping at the exhibition and watching fashion shows. The collaboration between the fashion and music sectors is also a highlight of this year’s Muffest+, with fashion shows accompanied by performances from young musicians, including Voice of Baceprot and Hivi as guest stars.
High dependence on imported materials

Imam Hartono, Head of the Islamic Economics and Finance Department at Bank Indonesia, stated that Indonesia modestly has tremendous potential. However, to become the global hub for modest fashion and a trendsetter in modest fashion innovation, some challenges must be addressed collectively.
These challenges include the high dependence on imported raw materials, the untapped potential of the modest fashion market, and designers’ limitations in terms of design quality, business capacity, and market access, which result in relatively low access to financing for this sector.

Acting Director General of National Export Development, Mardyana Listyowati, mentioned that according to the economic indicator score released by the Global Islamic Economy Indicator (GIEI), Indonesia ranks third among countries developing modest fashion products this year, following Turkey and Malaysia.
Indonesia’s rapid progress in the global Muslim fashion industry is due to the country’s active organization of various global-scale Muslim fashion exhibitions, such as Muffest+, JMFW, and IN2MF. These global fashion events serve as showcases to introduce various Indonesian Muslim fashion industry products to the international market.
Lenny Agustin, National Chair of the Indonesian Fashion Chamber, hopes that in its ninth year, Muffest+ can strengthen its strategic role in marketing Indonesian modest fashion to the global market. “Since it was first held, Muffest+ has consistently focused on collaboration with educational institutions in the fashion field to support the next generation of the modest fashion industry in Indonesia. It has also consistently promoted the concept of sustainability since 2020, ensuring that Indonesian modest fashion products not only showcase aesthetics but also demonstrate a sustainable environmental responsibility,” Lenny concluded.
