Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Ministry of Trade announced the holding of Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2024 on October 19-21, 2023 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition Bumi Serpong Damai (ICE BSD) Tangerang, Banten.
This year, JMFW focuses on strengthening the national modest fashion ecosystem through the collaboration of the Ministry of Trade and cross-sector stakeholders, such as business people, academics, and associations. The event features a series of fashion shows, trade exhibitions, and business matching which will be organized in conjunction with Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) on October 18-22, 2023 at the same place.
Attending the kick-off of JMFW 2024 at the Ministry of Trade Office, Jakarta (10/12), Director General of National Export Development Didi Sumedi said that the Ministry of Trade is collaborating with multiple parties to drive business transactions at JMFW, spanning the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), the Association of Indonesian Retailers and Shopping Center Tenants (Hippindo), and the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo).
Dedi said that this collaboration is expected to attract buyers including domestic retailers and distributors, optimize the role of trade representatives present at JMFW, and encourage business collaboration between international buyers and Indonesian companies.
The influence of millennial generation
“We are optimistic that Indonesia will be able to dominate the distribution of the world’s modest fashion market, supported by the trend factor of increasing the global Muslim population, which is dominated by the millennial generation. In my opinion, the millennial generation has the ability to influence the modest fashion trend. Apart from that, Indonesia also has the advantage of rich cultural diversity, local wisdom, and high-quality human resources,” Dedi added.
Meanwhile, Director of Export Development of Creative Services and Products Miftah Farid voiced, “JMFW has a series of activities before the peak which was held successfully with the collaboration of all parties. After the peak of the event, we want the interaction between Indonesian modest fashion designers and international buyers to be even stronger.”
Further, the associations participating in JMFW include the Indonesian Textile Association (API), the Association of Indonesian Cosmetics Companies (Perkosmi), the Association of Cosmetic Companies (PPAK), the Indonesian Fashion Chamber (IFC), Girl’s Secret, Hippindo, Aprindo, as well as 202 business actors in the fields of modest fashion, accessories, and cosmetics.
