Heaptalk, Jakarta — The peak of the Indonesia International Modest Fashion Festival (IN2MF) 2024 officially organized from October 30 to November 3 at Hall A and Cenderawasih, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). Bank Indonesia organized the event in collaboration with the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the Indonesian Fashion Chamber.

Adopting the theme ‘Elevating Sustainable Modest Fashion to the Global Stage’, this event aims to promote the optimal use of Indonesian traditional textiles in sustainable modest fashion products, supporting green economic growth in the modest fashion industry sector.

As part of the Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF), IN2MF 2024 features a fashion show, an international-standard trade exhibition, seminars, focus group discussions (FGDs) on modest fashion trends and business, and business matchmaking for traditional textile artisans with modest fashion designers and entrepreneurs.

At the opening ceremony, Minister of MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman expressed his highest appreciation to Bank Indonesia for facilitating fashion industry players, including designers and MSMEs. “President Prabowo Subianto has given us at the Ministry of MSMEs the important task of growing MSMEs across Indonesia. Today, MSMEs are expanding widely across the country. We hope that, besides growing horizontally, MSMEs can rise vertically or move to the next level,” Maman said at the IN2MF 2024 opening ceremony at Hall A, JCC, South Jakarta (10/30).

In 2023, Indonesia ranked third among 81 countries in the Global Islamic Economic Indicator (GIEI). This achievement reflects Indonesia’s robust sharia ecosystem on the global stage. Indonesia also holds top positions in various sectors, including third place in modest fashion, second in halal food, and fifth in halal pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Therefore, Maman urged all parties, including MSMEs, to join hands in advancing Indonesia’s fashion and creative industries.

According to Perry Warjiyo, Governor of Bank Indonesia, IN2MF is an essential event as maintaining one’s appearance is part of worship for Muslims. He stated, “Being Muslim, brothers and sisters, is our worship. Being beautiful and handsome is not about showing off but showing gratitude to Allah. That’s the spirit of Islam.”

This year, there are 20 fashion show slots over five consecutive days, involving 218 designers, 1,573 creations, and 16 models. On the opening day, IN2MF 2024 featured works by ten young designers who won the Indonesia FESyar Young Designer Competition from Eastern Indonesia, Sumatra, and Java, including Anita Yuni (KPw BI Jember), Sevira Tari (KPw BI North Sumatra), Muhammad Bilal (KPw BI South), Mariani Montu (KPw BI North Sulawesi), Melinda Looi (Malaysia), Febry Ferry Fabry (KPw BI Central Sulawesi), Robby Ariny Manasikaka (KPw BI Jambi), Nida Munadiah (KPw BI Tasikmalaya), Tya Chandra (KPw BI Central Java), and Fahmi Sasirangan (KPw BI South Kalimantan).
