Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) Hybrid 2022 has opened and inaugurated by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto, on Thursday at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta. The establishment of this exhibition is estimated to boost domestic automotive industry sales.

This industry has performed its growth of 17,82% last year and by the organizing of the IIMS Hybrid 2022 event, Indonesia’s automotive sector development is expected to grow up to 5,03%. This enhancement is also assisted by several policies related to the relaxation of the Sales Tax on Luxury Goods Borne by the government (PPnBM) that are currently being implemented according to the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 5/PMK.010/222.

“Indonesia’s government has tackled a process of relaxing incentives with an estimated budget of up to USD 2 billion related to PPnBM regulations. The target is to restore market demand in the automotive sector. We hope that this 2022 IIMS Hybrid can run smoothly and be able to accelerate the automotive sector,” said Airlangga in his speech at the IIMS’s opening ceremony (3/31).

During the exhibition, multiple renowned automotive brands have participated to showcase their latest products at this Indonesia’s most prominent automotive exhibition. The brands include Suzuki, Toyota, BMW, Hyundai, Honda, eHang, MG, DFSK, Tesla, Mitsubishi, Wuling, Chery, and Prestige, a general importer.

On the other hand, Airlangga claimed that the event would be more special as it presents the launch of three electric cars from different automotive brands. He stated, “I received information that three electric car manufacturers will launch their products at this automotive event. One of which has been known, and two other brands will be announced soon,”

Likewise, the President Director of Dyandra Promosindo, Hendra Noor Saleh, stated that all parties who contributed in the event believed that this annual automotive event can grant new color to the automotive sector. He also looks forward to the 2022 IIMS Hybrid can stimulate the national automotive market through some of the latest car models and facelifts.

“We present almost all two-wheeled and four-wheeled automotive brands, including electric cars that have become the government’s main priority for better environmental sustainability in the future. We expect to embrace the automotive sector’s stakeholders to encourage a transition to clean energy and zero emissions by 2060. IIMS 2022 is our genuine manifestation in stimulating the automotive sector growth.” concluded Hendra. (SFM/FK)
