Heaptalk, Jakarta — The 2024 Indohealthcare Gakeslab was officially opened by Health Minister, Budi Gunadi Sadikin on JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta on Wednesday (07/31). In his opening remarks, Budi Gunadi expressed this expo can build a resilient national health ecosystem.
“I hope through this expo, we can create more health medical devices and vaccine, which are produced locally, thus the economic turnover can occur within the country,” stated the Minister Budi Gunadi.
He added, Indonesia’s health industry remains reliant on imported products, as the total of imported products in 2023 even reached 88%. Meanwhile, the market size of this industry in Indonesia is predicted to attain Rp 440 trillion.
“We have to start today, start building our health industry. I know that we should carry out this gradually. It will be easier to get revenue from importing foreign products to Indonesia. But it will not last. We cannot inherit it to our next generation,” stated Gunadi.
Aligns with Gunadi’s statement, the Chairman of Gakeslab, Rd Kartono Dwidjosewojo stated that Indohealthcare Gakeslab organizes business matching and business meetings that are expected to promote collaboration and innovation and strengthen the national health industry.
He also reported that over 200 Gakeslab’s members has transformed into health equipment producers. Gakeslab also coined Gakeslab Innovation Industry Downstream (Goindo).

“The role of distributors is also critical. Therefore, through this expo, we hope the distributor can meet the producer directly to collaborate,” stated Kartono at the Opening Ceremony of Indohealthcare Gakeslab 2024.
From the organizer perspective, CEO of Krista Exhibitions, Daud Salmi conveyed that Indohealtcare Gakeslab connects multiple stakeholders in health sector, from downstream to upstream, starting from the raw material producer, manufacturer, researchers, universities, distributors, and consumers – hospital and other health care units.
Daud also stated this B2B and B2C event reportedly is participated by 120 companies while 10 exhibitors amongst them are MSMEs. These exhibitors derive from eight countries, including New Zealand, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, and Taiwan. Organized from 31 July to 2 August, this event is targeted to attract 12,000 visitors.
