Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2023 is organized on March 10-19 at the JCC Senayan Jakarta, targeting transactions of US$148.6 million and 53,000 visitors.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) initiated the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) automotive exhibition to showcase the latest innovations and products from the automotive and lifestyle industries. This automotive exhibition is organized for ten days from March 10-19, 2023 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Senayan, Central Jakarta.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto commenced the opening of GJAW 2023 accompanied by Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita (03/10). Airlangga said that the transportation equipment industry is one of the sectors that had grown significantly since Q2 2021. Until Q4 2022, the transportation equipment industry recorded a growth of 10.95%, indicating a trend of economic recovery after the covid-19 pandemic. In addition, Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) in February 2023 also showed an increase to an expansive level of 51.2.
“We appreciate Gaikindo’s steps in holding the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2023 exhibition. Achieving good sales figures is the key to attracting more investment in the automotive sector,” said Airlangga. Seeing impressive results in 2022 with sales reaching 1,048,040 units, Airlangga expected that these attainments to be maintained and improved.
Further, GJAW 2023 targets US$148.6 million or worth Rp2.3 trillion (US$1 equals Rp15,469) in transactions and 53,000 visitors. Chairman of Gaikindo Yohannes Nangoi is optimistic that this target can be achieved by presenting innovations from 20 car brands, including passenger vehicles, premium vehicles, and commercial vehicles.
The launch of automotive products can boost exports
According to Nangoi, the launch of vehicle products is the key to driving exports. The more variety of vehicles that are generated in the country will increase exports and strengthen the competitiveness of the Indonesian automotive industry in the international market. Therefore, he said Gaikindo encouraged its members to develop new vehicle models in Indonesia and launch them at the Gaikindo auto show, one of which is the implementation of this GJAW.
Nangoi voiced, “This year GJAW presents a different concept. For the first time in Indonesia, an automotive exhibition has collaborated with the world of lifestyle, through the Jakarta Concert Week, Jakarta Auto Runway, and the Indonesia Authentic Food Festival.” The aim of this collaboration is to allow visitors to enjoy the best launches, innovations, and promos from the automotive industry, as well as lifestyle at once.
“We hope that the presence of various automotive brands with a complete lineup, as well as numerous innovations at GAIKINDO Jakarta Auto Week 2023, will receive a positive response from the public, contribute to sales figures for the Indonesian automotive industry and continue to maintain the enthusiasm of the automotive market in Indonesia,” concluded Nangoi.
