Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia Motorcycle Show (IMOS) 2022 officially opened from November 2nd to 6th, 2022, at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).

Marking the opening of this most extensive motorcycle exhibition, a Chairman of the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI), Johannes Loman, delivered his appreciation for the presence of IMOS 2022 this year as the turning point of the two-wheel industry development after being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic for last two years.

As delivered by this AISI’s Chairman during the speech, after scoring a growth of 43.5% with a sales rate of around 3.7 million units in 2020, the national motorcycle market is predicted to climb 38.5%, turning into 5 million units in 2021. To maintain this improvement, Johannes claimed his party would continue to retain the achievement, one of which is conducting the IMOS 2022.

“We also aim to convey that the domestic motorcycle market in Indonesia has attained 3.6 million units per September this year, lower of 4% compared to the earlier. However, we have vigorous confidence to boost the national two-wheel industry to reach around 5.1 – 5.4 million units in 2022. We are incredibly optimistic about reaching this goal as we noticed the recovery of the semiconductor crisis, sustained economic growth, and well-maintained people purchasing power in the country,” Johannes explained.

Furthermore, a sustainable motorcycle industry evolution can also promote two-wheel producers to present fresh innovations with more environmentally friendly, including Battery-Based Electric Vehicle (KLBB) as the recent instruction of the President of Indonesia, Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo. Through the implementation of IMOS 2022, Johannes looks forward to cooperating with related stakeholders to provide more comprehensive electric products for society in Indonesia.

“At IMOS 2022, we will witness how the AISI members and other IMOS 2022 participants try to present the latest electric motorcycle products and technology. We believe the launch of the EV products from diverse newcomers in the automotive industry will attract visitors,” Johannes added.

To animate the Indonesia Motorcycle Show, AISI has presented over 65 brands, including 25 two-wheel brands and 14 electric motorbike brands. Several leading automotive brands enliven this expo, including Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha. While for electric motorcycle brands, Johannes has entailed several brands, including Davigo, Energica, ION Mobility, NIU, Polytron, and Treelektrik. On the other hand, several Smartby EV Centres also participated in the event: U-Winfly, Volta, ECGO, BF Goodrich, Sunrace, Bravo, Goda, and I Moto.
