Heaptalk, Jakarta — To celebrate its 151-year journey, Heineken is hosting the Heineken Star Quality Competition. According to Jessica Setiawan, Director at Multi Bintang Indonesia, part of The Heineken Company, Star Quality represents Heineken’s commitment to delivering the best drinks to consumers, starting from the first sip, including the brewing process and presentation.
Jessica also mentioned that 113 bartenders from selected outlets in four cities in Indonesia—Jakarta, Medan, Surabaya, and Bali—are participating this year.
“After going through the Star Quality Certification Program and a rigorous selection process, 16 of the best contestants will showcase their serving skills and display their talents in performing the Star Quality Ritual—a five-step process consisting of Rinse, Pour, Skim, Check, and Serve, which transforms beer into an extraordinary experience. Each contestant will demonstrate their best abilities in front of the judges, Deden Perdana, a globally certified Draught Master from Indonesia, and Martijn van Assendelft de Coningh, Global Draught Master of Heineken Company,” she said.
Shahrudin Damanik from Shoot Pool and Bar, Medan, took first place in a highly competitive contest. Meanwhile, Gede Okta Permana from Finns VIP Beach Club Bali finished second. Ni Luh Sandi from Como Beach Club Bali completed this year’s winners by claiming the Favorite Champion title.
Shahrudin will represent Indonesia in the global Star Quality competition, which will be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, this November. Information about the final event can be found on Heineken Indonesia’s official Instagram account.
