Heaptalk, Jakarta – Today, the Indonesia manufacturing sector is intensively shifting their production process through digital transformation by considering the benefits provided immensely assist the Corporate to raise their industry processes not solely in a short time for long-term and sustainable.
According to McKinsey, Indonesia ranks first globally to adopt digital economic growth in the pandemic era, with the percentage reaching 99%. This number even exceeds China and India. The data signaled that the business sector, including manufacturing, has thoughtfully leveraged Indonesia’s digital transformation to generate economic growth amid the pandemic.
In the field, however, the implementation of digital transformation should confront various problems. One of them is delivered by insufficient knowledge and experience to apply the technology in the industry. In many cases, manufacturing companies have collected the data. Still, the absence of determined goals from the initial stages in the transformation process led companies to lose track in producing the transformation progress.
The data collection continuity remains conducted, and the number of data increases, but the implementation is imperceptible. David Budiono, the Production Engineering and Procurement Director of PT. Astra Honda Motor (AHM) confirmed that the data collection process conducted without goals is not a digital transformation. Instead of being the data scavenger, the Corporate should be capital the opportunity from the data obtained.
This critical problem attacked corporate were modified by NEC into a golden opportunity to spread its wings while promoting the Industrial revolution in line with the Government’s instruction. With its vast experiences in implementing AI and forming IoT, NEC has collaborated with plenty of companies to harvest the data following the need for technology transformation. The data is generated from two aspects: first, data concerning customers and suppliers. The other is from the manufacturing process, namely machines, robotic, and sensors, that the combination will present extensive data.
For NEC, big data is a valuable asset, one of the Company’s capitals to produce advanced progress viewed by its role as the primary ingredient to conduct analysis. NEC then is successful in processing big data in smart analytics so as results AI. Fathan F. Goenandar, Sales & Business Development PT NEC INDONESIA, in its sharing session with ABDI, claimed that NEC has successfully captured its partnered Companies’ demand by creating a Comprehensive Smart Manufacturing Solution. Innovation performed by NEC is the intersection between Human Capital, method, and technology. Through this system, NEC has delivered digital transformation by offering a more efficient and productive manufacturing process.
Moreover, NEC revealed that its AI’s adoption is reflected in the System Invariant Analysis Technology (SIAT), an ecosystem formed by NEC that integrates method, human capital, machine, analytics, AI, and ERP. The Company then simulated the function of SIAT in an assembly process by employing four sensors with three indicators, including distance, temperature, and pressure.
The simulation further demonstrated the checking process that previously only can be conducted by a human, now can be performed by the sensor. NEC said the sensor could detect every unusual condition rapidly, even 24 seconds before the good is produced. When an anomaly occurred, SIAT integrated into the automatic stop system will lay off the process. Only by utilizing four sensors will the process result in zero defect. If the manufacturing industry plugs in SIAT on a big scale, it will receive tremendous benefit. (WLN)
