Heaptalk, Jakarta — Automotive giants Astra and Toyota have reinforced their long-standing partnership by expanding their strategic collaboration in Indonesia’s used car sector. Through a partnership in PT Astra Digital Mobil (ADMO), Toyota Motor Asia (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. has officially acquired a 40% stake in ADMO, with a total investment of USD 120 million, or approximately IDR 2 trillion.
The acquisition was made through a combination of new and existing shares. Despite the transaction, Astra, through PT Astra Digital Internasional (ADI), retains majority control of ADMO with a 60% ownership stake.
ADMO currently manages two key entities in the used vehicle ecosystem: OLX.co.id and OLXmobbi. OLX.co.id is one of Indonesia’s largest digital classified platforms for buying and selling second-hand goods and services. Meanwhile, OLXmobbi operates an online-to-offline (O2O) model in the used car business, with over 30 stores and inspection centers across 10 major cities in the country.
Astra President Director Djony Bunarto Tjondro stated that this partnership is part of the company’s long-term strategy to optimize its core business while expanding investments in high-growth potential sectors. he added, “The used car market in Indonesia remains largely fragmented. This presents a tremendous opportunity to create significant value at scale.”
Toyota Motor Asia Deputy CEO Hao Quoc Tien added that the collaboration aligns with Toyota’s global vision of “Mobility for All.” He stated, “Used car and mobility businesses allow us to extend our reach in realizing that vision. This partnership continues our over 50-year commitment with Astra to contribute to Indonesian society.”
The synergy between Astra and Toyota through ADMO is expected to modernize Indonesia’s used car sector. Supported by Astra Group’s comprehensive automotive ecosystem and Toyota’s technology and vast network, ADMO aims to expand public access to quality vehicles, financing services, insurance, and after-sales support.
The partnership also enhances the integration of vehicle trade-in services, making it easier for consumers to transition between old and new or quality pre-owned vehicles. In line with broader macro trends such as the circular economy, affordability, and digitalization, OLXmobbi is well-positioned to become a leading mobility enabler in Indonesia’s market.
