Heaptalk, Jakarta — BASF Indonesia introduced ProtAct17, an interactive educational platform for children to conduct virtual chemistry experiments. The platform is accessible through a smartphone app, which BASF launched in May 2023 and downloaded 8,000 times in the first seven months.
Christofer Arisandy, President Director of BASF Indonesia, stated that ProtAct17 covers eight sustainability-related subtopics: air, food, water, biodiversity, shopping, waste, transportation, and energy.
The app’s user-friendly interface aligns with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and is expected to complement learning activities at home and school. The ProtAct17 app is available for free download via the Play Store or App Store. “By combining offline and online activities, we hope to reach more children across Indonesia and inspire them to become innovative future generations,” added Christofer.

In addition to introducing ProtAct17, BASF featured an exciting science education program for children through Kids’ Lab. This year, the event took place over two days, from September 13-14, 2024, in Kuningan, South Jakarta, and invited students from MI Fatahillah and SDN 1 Cisalak Pasar in Cimanggis and MI Thariqul Khair in Cengkareng to participate in engaging chemistry experiments.
Adopting the theme Water Wonderland: A Chemistry Adventure, participants were invited to understand the importance of maintaining water cleanliness through three exciting experiments from the Water Loves Chemistry category. “As an innovation, BASF also held an online session, inviting the public for the first time to virtually witness an interactive musical performance, making the various experiments easier for children to understand,” Christofer concluded.
