Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has stated that digitalizing housing is essential for implementing more comprehensive geospatial data mapping. This includes data on the condition and distribution of uninhabitable houses and a more accurate and accountable backlog.
“Housing digitalization is crucial for future housing development in Indonesia,” said Iwan Suprijanto, Director General of Housing at the Ministry of PUPR, during the Peak Night of National Housing Day 2024 at the PUPR Ministry Campus Auditorium in Jakarta on Tuesday (08/27).
According to Iwan, in addition to housing digitalization to address the challenge of limited land for housing provision, especially in urban areas, the government is also exploring innovations related to utilizing space above roads, railways, or rivers for housing development.
Efforts to increase homeownership to address the backlog and uninhabitable houses are not only the responsibility of the central government but also require collaboration from all housing sector stakeholders. This includes local governments, banking institutions, associations and developers, housing activists, philanthropic organizations, and, certainly, support from the entire community to achieve adequate and affordable housing for all.
This year’s National Housing Day (Hapernas) XVI 2024 adopts the theme of Housing Digitalization. This theme aims to encourage all housing stakeholders to improve the efficiency of housing management and support ease of access through the synergy of digital platforms that encompass the housing business processes and accommodate innovations and bright ideas for future housing provision.
“Looking ahead, the challenges of housing development will become increasingly complex with global conditions and technological advancements. Therefore, the strategy for digital transformation in housing must be a policy priority and integrated with programs and activities,” he concluded.
