Heaptalk, Jakarta — The State Electricity Company (PLN), through its subsidiary PLN Haleyora Power, will add 111 public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) on several toll roads in Indonesia.
To carry out this program, PLN Haleyora Power is collaborating with Usaha Jayamas Bhakti (UJB) Group and Shenzhen Atess Power Technology Co. and involving the Indonesian Rest Area Entrepreneurs Association (Aprestindo). Representatives of each party signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) some time ago.
“This collaboration will have the potential to add 111 SPKLU units to several toll road rest areas, including 68 units in the Trans Java rest area, 22 units in the Trans Sumatra rest area, 13 non-Trans Java rest area units, 6 Greater Jakarta rest areas, and 2 Kalimantan rest areas,” said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo.
Reaffirming the company’s commitment, Darmawan emphasized that PLN will persistently drive the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem. This includes accelerating the construction of public EV charging stations, a crucial component of the energy transition program. In this regard, PLN is actively establishing collaborations with energy companies at the local and international levels, demonstrating their dedication to facilitating EV utilization in the country.
“We are very thoughtful about accelerating electric vehicle infrastructure in the country amidst increasing public interest in using electric vehicles. For this reason, PLN is responding to this need by continuing to increase the provision of SPKLU facilities at every strategic point, such as toll rest areas,” said Darmawan.
Acting President Director of Haleyora Power, Isral, said that the signing of this MoU was Haleyora Power’s effort to develop its business by providing and maintaining public EV charging stations, which are spread across various regions. Thus, people using EVs will have more accessible and comfortable mobility. “This collaboration is our real commitment to providing and serving as an SPKLU service center in Indonesia. It is hoped that this will accelerate the mobility of a zero-emission society,” said Isral.
He also explained that in 2024, Haleyora Power successfully completed the assignment from PLN to build 175 public EV charging stations along the Sumatra-Java toll road. He added, “Through this collaboration, it is hoped that the electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Indonesia can increase and develop so that people will be more comfortable using electric vehicles.”
PT UJB Director Edi Amin said his party was enthusiastic about collaborating with PLN and other prominent stakeholders in the EV ecosystem. This collaboration will also support the government’s program to achieve NZE by 2060. “UJB, as a private company, has high enthusiasm to support the government’s program to achieve net zero emissions, which is why this collaboration is our real commitment to realizing the nation’s ideals,” said Edi.
Aprestindo Chairman Widie Wahyu expressed his pride in being involved in the collaboration to provide SPKLU. He sees this collaboration’s gravity in supporting rest areas as electric car charging points, providing a sense of security and comfort for EV users.
“We understand that rest areas, such as electric car charging points in Indonesia, are important. Hopefully, the collaboration between Haleyora Power, Atess Power Technology, and PT UJB can continue to meet the need to charge electric cars in rest areas throughout Indonesia,” concluded Widie.
