Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s Minister of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo), Budi Arie Setiadi, fully supported the government’s efforts to accelerate digital transformation and integration of Digital Services. As stipulated in Presidential Regulation No 82 2023, Budi expressed his support for strengthening the three foundations of digital transformation, including Digital ID (Digital Population Identity, known as IKD), digital payment, and data exchange for interoperability of public services.
As is known, Indonesia’s President, Joko ‘Jokowi‘ Widodo, instructed the acceleration of digital-based transformation and government services, specifically regarding accelerating the development and implementation of Digital ID. Concurrently, the President looks forward to developing and implementing Digital ID, which can be accomplished in six months.
In the plenary meeting (09/01), Jokowi previously affirmed, “I ask SOE Minister to also support the acceleration of transformation through Perum Peruri as the national govtech. On the other hand, the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of Communication and Information will also immediately accelerate the development and implementation of digital ID within six months at maximum.”
Besides, the leader of the archipelago also urged the Kominfo Minister to immediately transform cloud government policies to accelerate the improvement of our digital services.
As part of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Kominfo’s responsibilities, Minister Budi said that these two ministries are migrating and collecting population identity data from electronic ID cards to application-based digital IKD.
“We will oversee the process as we have just entered the data collection process. According to our data, around 10 million identities have been switched their identities digitally. Around 280 million people have their ID number. We will transform this into the digital realm, which is expected to simplify them in showing their identity via smartphone, even more QRIS,” Tech Minister Budi said.
Further, Budi claimed that digital transformation is a necessity. For this reason, the use of population identity will also shift due to the rapid development of technology. Based on his statement, transitioning from ID cards to IKD requires an integration process to facilitate several government programs, spanning public services, social assistance, health, and education.
“We will integrate overall aspects. This step is a big leap for our country to accelerate digital transformation.” Budi concluded.
