Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development (Bappenas), together with 14 other Ministries, conducted a Ministerial Level Meeting to discuss the finalization of the National Tourism Destination Master Plan or Integrated Tourism Master Plan (RIDPN/ITMP) for Labuan Bajo, Bromo Tengger Semeru, and Morotai, in Bappenas’ Office, Jakarta. The Head of Bappenas, Suharso Monoarfa, emphasized the importance of sustainable integration between the central and regional governments in developing national tourist destinations.
“Once this master plan has been created, regional entities must be involved and prepare for its implementation. Indonesian regions are tourism assets and must have a good master plan followed by a synchronized operations process,” added Suharso.
The process of preparing this master plan involves in-depth analysis, starting from market demand to the Unique Selling Point (USP), the advantages of each destination, road access, community participation, and improving the investment climate in the tourism sector.
The RIDPN/ITMP master plan also becomes the foundation for the 10 National Medium Term Development Plans 2020 – 2024 and the realization of the Vision of Golden Indonesia 2045 as a Sovereign, Advanced, and Sustainable Archipelago.
For your information, RIDPN/ITMP is part of the integrated and sustainable tourism development program (P3TB) through collaboration with the World Bank and the State Budget’s (APBN) contribution.
Attending the meeting, Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, emphasized the importance of accelerating the adoption of this master plan into a Presidential Regulation to expedite the development of quality tourism destinations.
Based on his perspective, development can be directed by adopting the principles of the Blue, Green, and Circular Economy (BGCE) framework with a focus on supply chain integration, environmental sustainability, and the welfare of local communities.
On the other hand, the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Land, Hadi Tjahjanto, also highlighted his party’s role in ensuring legal certainty and appropriate spatial planning for developing sustainable tourist destinations.
For this reason, the Directorate General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR emphasizes the role of regional entities in managing and utilizing assets built to support tourism activities.
This master plan will guide the strategic development of sustainable tourism with a focus on the quality of products, the diversity of endemic wildlife in Labuan Bajo, the protection of national parks in Bromo Tengger Semeru, and marine and historical tourism experiences in Morotai.
